Full Job Description

The Field Teams are based in the Wessex Area, with depots in Bridgwater, Dorchester and Salisbury.
We work closely with our Asset Performance, Hydrometrics, Biodiversity and Environment Management Teams to deliver a varied work programme in our River Catchments.

In Wessex we want to create a diverse workplace where people are respected, valued and listened to. We're all different, and by embracing Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) we can become an equal opportunity employer where jointly we all grow and learn together.

It is our ambition to champion diversity through building a workforce as diverse as the communities we serve.

As part of the Environment Agency, you will have a role in protecting and improving the environment.
You will do vital work that influences and protects lives, places and communities now and in the future.

Acting to reduce the impacts of a changing climate is at the heart of everything we do. We are working with local government, councils, businesses and communities to create a better place for people and wildlife.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual for this exciting and challenging hands-on role in the Wessex Area.

As a Field Lead Team Member, you'll be responsible for leading and supervising teams to maintain and operate our flood and coastal assets and defences, as well as responding to incidents. You will also lead teams to carry out a maintenance programme, undertaking vegetation management and light construction duties. This is a field-based role, and you will be required to work outside in all weathers. As part of the role you will also be required to complete our Water Environment Worker Apprenticeship.

The Environment Agency is a Category 1 responder, and you will take part in a standby roster, meaning you will be available to respond to incidents 24/7 over a 7-day period. This may involve working in different parts of the country during extreme flood events.
