Full Job Description

Adventure Valley Durham is seeking a passionate and experienced Animal Farm Attraction Supervisor to lead our animal farm team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the well-being of our animals and providing an engaging and educational experience for our visitors. The Animal Farm Attraction Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, animal care, staff management, and visitor interactions within the animal farm attraction.

Responsibilities:

  • Animal Care and Welfare: Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all animals within the attraction.


  • Monitor animal behaviour, diet, and overall condition to detect any signs of illness or distress.
    Coordinate and execute feeding, grooming, and enrichment activities for animals.
    Collaborate with veterinarians and animal care specialists to maintain proper animal health records and promptly address any health concerns.
  • Visitor Experience: Provide a welcoming and informative experience to visitors by sharing interesting facts about the animals, their habits, and habitats.


  • Supervise and engage with visitors, addressing their questions and concerns in a friendly and professional manner.
    Create a safe and enjoyable environment for visitors, enforcing attraction rules and safety guidelines.
  • Staff Management: Supervise and train a team of animal keepers, ensuring they are knowledgeable about animal care, safety protocols, and visitor interaction.


  • Schedule and allocate tasks to staff members effectively, ensuring smooth daily operations.
    Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork and accountability.
  • Attraction Operations: Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of animal enclosures, ensuring they meet appropriate standards and regulations.


  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to address any repairs, improvements, or modifications needed within the animal farm area.
    Manage inventory of animal feed, supplies, and equipment, coordinating procurement as necessary.

  • Health and Safety:Enforce strict safety protocols for both staff and visitors, ensuring a secure environment at all times.


  • Conduct regular safety checks of enclosures, pathways, and facilities to identify and address potential hazards.
    Train staff on emergency procedures and coordinate drills to ensure preparedness.

  • Proven experience in animal care and husbandry, with a strong understanding of the needs of various farm animals.

  • Previous supervisory experience, including staff management and training.

  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with staff and visitors of all ages.

  • Passion for educating visitors about animals and fostering a positive guest experience.

  • Knowledge of safety and animal welfare regulations and standards.

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.

  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and occasional extended hours as needed., livestock: 5 years (required)
