Full Job Description

As our new apprentice you will have the chance to work on many different construction skills, with duties including:

  • Modern and traditional brickwork

  • Working with different types of mortar, including lime mortar

  • Learning different types of brick bonds and joints

  • Stonework, including cutting and shaping stone

  • Renovating and rebuilding structures on the estate

  • Cobble work

  • Rendering and plastering

  • Learning modern and traditional construction techniques

  • Checking the quality of work, and ensuring quality standards and building regulations are followed

  • Maintaining a clean and tidy workspace

  • Lifting and carrying materials

  • All other associated duties as required


  • As an apprentice you will work from the employer's address at Brocklesby Estate, DN41 8PP. You will attend college on day-release at The Grimsby Institute for one day each week (in term time)., You will work from Brocklesby Estate (DN41 8PP). Please check the location and ensure you would be able to get to work on a daily basis. This apprenticeship runs on a day-release model, and you will be required to attend college at The Grimsby Institute, Nuns Corner, Grimsby, DN34 5BQ once each week (term time only). There is a free college bus service available from many of the surrounding areas

  • Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard - Bricklayer qualification

  • Functional Skills in maths and English at Level 1 (if applicable), Communication skills, Attention to detail, Organisation skills, Problem solving skills, Number skills, Logical, Team working, Creative, Initiative, Willing to learn, respectful, GCSE or equivalent Maths and English (Grade 3/ D) Essential
