Full Job Description

Mount Pleasant Golf Club is privately owned expanding course in Bedfordshire. In 2021 the course expanded to 18-holes.

The course is kept to a high standard for members and visitors so the applicants must have excellent work ethic, dedication, passion and be a good team player with a keen eye for presentation and detail.

The role we are offering will give aspiring greenkeepers the opportunity to get a good practical feel of their chosen career, while offering existing assistant greenkeepers the opportunity to experience different machines, terrains and working practices.

The successful candidate will be working with, and reporting, to the Director of Golf and you will be responsible for maintaining and presenting the golf course to the highest tournament standards on a daily basis. Training opportunities will also be provided.

Desired experience/skills

· Ideally, candidates should have successful golf course maintenance experience at a club known for high quality standards

· NVQ level 2 (desirable)

· Pa1, Pa2 Pa6a spraying certificates (desirable)

· A strong work ethic and dedication to greenkeeping

· Valid driving license

· Candidates will be able to commit to a full-time position, with the flexibility to work any days, including weekends

Your duties

· Monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the workplace

· Cutting practices including greens, tees, approaches, and rough Scarifying/grooming/verti-cutting turf

· Machine maintenance

· Bunker maintenance including raking, edging and weeding

· Repair and renovate turf

· Aeration programmes

· General ground care including tree and shrubbery work

  • Set up the golf course, including changing holes, moving tee markers, indicating OOB, Drop zones and hazards

  • Switch and brush greens

  • Renovate worn and damaged turf

  • When fully trained and signed off by Director of Golf, cut tees, greens, surrounds, fairways, rough and semi rough

  • When fully trained and signed off by Director of Golf, apply top dressing and fertilizer

  • Identify and control pests and diseases

  • Prepare and maintain machinery
