Full Job Description

Wates Group have a new opportunity for a Assistant Proposals Manager to join a work winning team based in Leatherhead, supporting our Residential Business primarily focused on Public Sector Clients (Local Authorities and Registered Providers) tendering both contracting and development opportunities.

Our Assistant Proposals Manager will support our proposals function including the production of high quality professional submission documents for all bids and developing customer-specific styles for each submission.

As our Assistant Proposals Manager you will:

  • Write persuasive, creative, compelling, factual and focused responses for bid opportunities including presentations and other quality related activities.

  • Work with Bid & Pre-Construction Managers and wider team in development of responses that are attractive, concise and bring out the benefits of our offer.

  • Facilitate quality question workshops and meetings with the wider bid team to share knowledge and develop a strategy to answer quality questions.

  • Manage and communicate relevant market and competitor data

  • Check the quality and consistency of responses in terms of themes, messages, key phrases and key words.

  • Ensuring we learn from feedback and continuously improve our quality responses.

  • Effectively liaise with key stakeholders across the business to ensure access to accurate and up-to-date company information on structure, accounts, safety stats etc.

  • Produce Presentations, Brochures, Marketing Material to support pre/post bid work and business development.


  • To drive the strategy for continual improvement in our quality submissions, utilising new methods of technology and design to compliment, ensuring we deliver 'best in class' proposal documentation.
