Full Job Description

New Coast Kitchen is looking for a brunch chef to join our team. We are a 2 AA rosette and Michelin recommended restaurant in the heart of Croyde.

As our Brunch Chef, you will be responsible for creating and executing a delicious brunch menu in line with our restaurant's culinary standards and customer expectations. You'll work closely with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations during brunch hours, delivering high-quality dishes that delight our guests and keep them coming back for more.

You will mostly work day times with the rough shift pattern being 7am-4pm 5 days a week. Staff accommodation could be possibly for the right candidate., Menu Development:

  • Collaborate with the head chef and management to develop a diverse and appealing brunch menu that reflects current food trends, seasonal ingredients, and customer preferences.

  • Create innovative and visually appealing brunch dishes that showcase culinary expertise and creativity.

  • Regularly review and update the brunch menu based on feedback, ingredient availability, and market trends


  • Food Preparation:
  • Prepare and cook brunch dishes according to established recipes and standards, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and portion sizes.

  • Monitor food quality and freshness, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times.

  • Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of brunch orders, maintaining a smooth flow of service during peak hours.


  • Kitchen Management:
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff, providing guidance on proper cooking techniques, plating methods, and sanitation procedures specific to brunch service.

  • Organize and maintain inventory of brunch ingredients and supplies, placing orders as needed to prevent shortages or waste.

  • Monitor kitchen equipment for functionality and cleanliness, reporting any issues to management for prompt resolution.


  • Customer Interaction:
  • Interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner, addressing any special dietary requests or preferences with attentiveness and accommodation.

  • Solicit feedback from customers regarding their brunch experience, actively seeking opportunities for improvement and guest satisfaction.

  • Act as a brand ambassador, representing the restaurant positively through exceptional culinary skills and personalised service.


  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment, promoting open communication and teamwork among kitchen staff and front-of-house teams.

  • Communicate effectively with management regarding menu changes, ingredient availability, staffing needs, and any operational issues impacting brunch service.

  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and performance evaluations as required, contributing ideas for menu enhancements and operational improvements.

    Proven experience as a chef specialising in brunch cuisine, with a strong culinary background and a passion for creating exceptional dishes.

  • Proficiency in preparing a variety of brunch staples, including eggs Benedict, pancakes, waffles, and other staple dishes.

  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations, with the ability to maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with guests and colleagues.

  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

  • Must have driving licence or reliable travel method to and from Croyde.
