Full Job Description

As an Communications and External Affairs Graduate, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our organisation's External Affairs function. This dynamic role involves cross-functional collaboration, contributing to internal and external communications, and supporting the development of policy and public affairs programmes. This position offers an opportunity to elevate your Communications and External Affairs career by contributing to various areas, including internal and external communications, digital communications, policy shaping, and employee relations. You will also be involved in media and policy monitoring.

Biogen's External Affairs team supports the business on all aspects of External Affairs and Communications. Over the course of the program, you will have the opportunity to work with each function and business unit including Market Access, Medical Affairs, Marketing, HR and Finance broadening your understanding of a matrix business.

What you will be doing during the program:

  • Supporting and leading on internal communications projects through collaboration with the human resources team to develop and push internal communications across the business. Lead of the creation of engaging and visually appealing communications through various platforms.

  • Perform daily media and policy monitoring of the external environment and share weekly reports with senior members of the business. This includes monitoring and analysis of any developments in the political environment within the UK & Ireland that may be relevant to the business.

  • Supporting and leading with engagement projects with internal and external stakeholders external including patient groups, industry partners and senior leaders to create actionable projects and goals.

  • Support the development of content for digital channels including our corporate website and LinkedIn Page.

  • Analysis of trends and information from the external environment to share internally for the development of externally facing company policies and strategies.

  • Providing support to senior members of the business with external engagement events and speaking opportunities through the development of research documents and speaking notes.

    On track to achieve a minimum 2.1 degree in a relevant subject.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint. Use of MS Sway highly desirable.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in business English.

  • Keen interest in communications and public affairs/policy.

  • Ability to relate to stakeholders at all levels and from different cultural backgrounds.

  • Project management skills.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Enthusiasm for learning and contributing to a dynamic External Affairs team.

  • Relevant work experience by the way of placement would be highly desirable.

  • Experience of video/photo editing and basic design would be highly desirable.
