The Maples are delighted to announce the opportunity for a Complex Mental Health Support Worker (CMH Support worker) based in the BS5 area of Bristol. The role involves supporting an individual with complex mental health needs, challenging behaviours, and a mild learning disability.

The successful candidate will have experience in working with individuals with varying complex mental health needs and must have the confidence to make informed decisions and manage high risk situations. An understanding of MCA and DOLs is essential, alongside knowledge of positive behaviour management and PBS plans.

The main purpose of the role is to work with the individual to achieve, wellbeing and independence, through the utilisation of creative, flexible, and outcome driven support planning and delivery techniques.

You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for enabling the individual in her home to maximise her independence, health and wellbeing within the community.

You will work within a team and be self-motivated in order to achieve The Maples goals in supporting the individual to live independently.

You must be passionate about supporting individuals with ill mental health, be adaptable, and have a willingness to learn new skills in all areas of mental health and learning disabilities.

No two days will be the same! Your role will include coordinating and reviewing the care and support our individual receives. You will deliver creative, flexible and outcome driven support. You will ensure that the individual's home environment is continually maintained to a high standard and in line with health & safety practices. This also includes completion, action, and ongoing review of support plans and risk management plans.

You will be hands on and happy to get stuck in at any opportunity. As part of your role, you will be required to administer medication and provide personal care to the client. All relevant training will be provided to you.

As well as working with the individual inside her home, you will also be required to support her in the community on various outings and activities such as the cinema, going for food and promoting healthy living through exercise and diet.

You will be required to promote choice for the individual by supporting her with day-to-day tasks such as shopping, banking and budget management.

You will be part of a proactive care team with 2 people on shift at any time, you will be required to work collaboratively in line with her outcomes and Maples Policies and procedures.

It would be preferred if you had a full UK driving licence and be able to drive company vehicles.

You will have a diploma level 2 in health and social care or equivalent qualification.

You will have a strong background within the mental health sector specifically learning disabilities with complex needs and behaviours including trauma.

You will have previous positive behaviour training and be able to apply this on a daily basis.

You will have a strong understanding of positive risk, safeguarding and multi-disciplinary teams.

You will be patient, resilient, punctual, approachable, and responsible within the workplace and able to communicate at all levels.

You will have a set shift pattern and will be required to work every other weekend.

1 FTE is 35 hours per week, but the organisation is open to part time applications, but candidates must be open to working weekends.

The shift pattern's will be 7am to 2:30pm and 2pm to 9:30pm.
