Full Job Description

Ellingham House are seeking a Deputy Manager to join them on a Fixed Term Maternity Cover Contract until January 2024 This role would be ideal for a strong Room Leader or Third In Charge to step up into a Deputy Manager role and gain experience and knowledge for the future.

Ellingham is set idyllically in a Georgian country house surrounded by 2.5 acres of lawns and woodland. In this safe space, our children have the opportunity to explore, stretch, and run as well as practise their climbing and balancing skills in the ever popular 'bear cave'. The paddock is home to our friendly Valais Black Nose sheep- Baarbara and Soozie. The children help the team care for them and learn how to stay safe around animals. The nursery has a real 'home from home' feel, with welcoming rooms specifically suited to babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers. The nursery is open 8:00am-6:00pm.

Nursery Deputy Manager main duties and responsibilities

  • :

  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of every child, staff, parent, and visitor at all times.

    Understand and ensure that the requirements of the statutory framework for the EYFS are met throughout the nursery.

    Assist in managing the acceptance and administration of medication and ensure care plans are thorough and up to date for children or staff with health conditions.

    Ensure that all children receive stimulating and purposeful experiences, environments and resources that are appropriate to their age and stage of development.

    Show respect and credibility for this position through effective communication skills, impartiality, and consistency.

    Inspire staff team with creative ideas and new challenges with aim to achieve outstanding practice.

    Maintain accurate records and accounts relating to children and staff on EyMan system and on file.

    Undertake any other duties to ensure the smooth running of the nursery and safety and wellbeing of children, staff, and families.

    Full and relevant Level 3 in Childcare qualification - Essential


  • Over 1 years' experience of working in Early Years - Essential

    Sound knowledge of the statutory framework for the EYFS and regulatory requirements - Essential

    Over 1 years' experience of working in a management position - Desirable.

    Level 5 qualification in Childcare and/or Management and Leadership - Desirable

    Experience of successfully passing an Ofsted inspection to good or outstanding - Desirable
