Full Job Description

Support the BMS UKi division EHS Manager and Rushden factory manager by leading and coordinating consistent delivery of the EHS systems across the site.
To actively pursue exceptional standards for Health Safety and Environmental improvement across the Rushden site.
Strive to continually improve EHS for all aspects of our employees lives and create a framework for a zero-accident culture across the site.
Be the first point of contact for Factory Manager and all other levels of the site.
Liaise with the BMS UKi division EHS Manager to ensure corporate EHS compliance is achieved.
Share best practices, drive and implement the corporate EHS agenda and support the site improvement plans/activities.,

  • Monitor, collation and prepare information on the delivery of all aspects of safety improvement across the site, ensuring regulatory standards are achieved and areas for continuous improvement are identified and reported in accordance with company protocols.

  • Liaise professionally with other sites while dealing with any concerns and developments with the aim of standardising processes across the organisation.

  • Working toward and exceeding company KPI's

  • Ensure that all safety systems are maintained/followed across the site with active participation in Internal or external audits.

  • Liaise with EHS Manager and Factory Manager on internal and external Safety issues.

  • To ensure adherence to current and new H&S Legislation, by proactively driving safety initiatives across the site.

  • Monitor the environmental and safety processes, identify risks and make recommendations for improvement.

  • Ensure the site investigates and reports on incidents and accidents to relevant levels of the business.

  • Evaluate performance and provide support and feedback to EHS Manager, Factory Manager, line managers and HR.

  • Assist the Factory Manager in performing site safety audits and ensure the site maintains an audit schedule.

  • Lead on specific EHS and Quality projects, implementing best working practices to improve and maintain process efficiency and competitiveness.

  • Lead Operation Clean Sweep project.

  • Liaise with all departmental managers to ensure robust safety training is completed to ensure that all members of staff are fully trained and refreshed when required.

  • Carry out initial induction training for safety and environmental topics with new starters.

  • On an ongoing basis provide regular and timely status updates to the EHS and Factory Manager on; EHS issues, the implementation of new processes and corporate initiatives across the site.

  • Contribute to the company strategy and policy development as required for EHS matters.

  • Improve process consistency through analysis of data e.g. hazard cards, stop call wait, etc.

  • Oversee the site in ensuring compliance to Berry guidelines.

  • Monitor and report accurate data within the GDC reporting system.

  • Prepare accurate monthly reporting data to feedback to all departments/levels.

  • In partnership with EHS Manager, prepare and ensure maintenance of accreditations.

  • Provide understanding and enforcement of Health and Safety Executive legislation.

    Previous experience of working within a similar EHS focused role.

  • NEBOSH Certificate, or equivalent desired.

  • Knowledge of EHS regulations and associated requirements.

  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 and 45001.

  • Working knowledge and competence in the use of MS Office Software e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint etc.

  • Passionate about people and organisational development.

  • Excellent organisational skills, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • A dynamic, proactive individual who possesses strong intellect, a passion for EHS improvement who can demonstrate the ability to make decisions and empower people to drive actions forward.

  • A proficient communicator at all levels; possess the ability to develop and maintain and ethos of team working.

  • An understanding of statistical data analysis and awareness of key safety regulations.
