Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Global Quality Control Head Crop Protection in Manchester. The role is responsible for developing, directing, and coordinating the implementation of the CP Quality Control concept across the CP P&S organization. Alto, to ensure compliance with product quality and regulatory requirements, drive operational excellence, standardization, and efficiency in QC as BPO and leverage the technical capabilities within CP QC to ensure sustainable QC operations and provide analytical chemistry expertise.

Responsibilities/accountabilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Lead the development and implementation of a global CP QC concept.

  • Ensure implementation of laboratory quality management structures and systems in order to meet legal obligations, guarantee the quality of processes and services and ensure a safe and healthy working place for employees.

  • Ensure understanding and adherence to standards and processes. Identify any gaps/issues/risks that could adversely affect Syngenta, ensuring effective mitigation and communication.

  • Business Process Owner for QC in Crop Protection, ensuring clearly defined and documented processes, system requirements, work processes, and associated activities.

  • Contribute to the development of standards for QC and support translation of standards into operational procedures.

  • Establish key performance indicators for QC performance across sites and 3rd parties. Ensure that management is kept informed of quality control performance and advise on critical quality control and analytical issues that could impact on laboratory performance, product quality, product compliance and/or safety.

  • Establish and maintain the CP QC network with internal and external stakeholders on QC, systems, analytical methods, and issues.

  • Be the link between CP QC function of Syngenta sites, T&E, and third-party suppliers in optimizing sharing of analytical expertise, experience, and best practice, ensuring appropriate support to CP sites.

  • Provide expertise and recommendation for investment strategy in analytical techniques.

  • Point of escalation and subject matter expert for critical OOS laboratory investigations.

  • Assess QC process risks, identify and measure the effectiveness of mitigating controls.

  • Assess third party QC service providers through due diligence assessment or formal audit processes.

  • Foster a learning and continuous improvement culture through ongoing guidance and coaching to the CP QC community.

  • 10+ years of management or team leadership experience in a QC / R&D analytical laboratory environment.

  • Operational experience in quality control and analytical chemistry.

  • Degree in life sciences with a strong focus on analytical chemistry.

  • Technical QC expertise and understanding of site QC operational environment.

  • Knowledge of ISO 17025 and ISO 9001.

  • Strong leadership, communication and project management skills; able to work and influence independently and through a network of specialists.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the regulatory environment and requirements.

  • Experience with LIMS technology and laboratory IT systems; SAP knowledge an advantage.

  • Experience in change management to drive continuous improvement and quality culture agenda in QC.

This is a hybrid contract, with a minimum 2 days per week to be worked in the office, with remote working available for the remainder of the week (for the first few months, there may be a requirement to spend up to 3 days per week onsite). The site is a local hub for worldwide operations, ensuring growers, globally, have access to the right product at the right time.
