Job Description Summary

GE Vernova's Power Conversion business provides electrification systems that are critical to customers' power and energy needs for their high-performance applications. We work with some of the world's major energy, maritime and industrial organizations, helping to enable a transition to energy efficiency and decarbonization, including through our specialist motors, drives and control technologies.

Job Description

We are looking for a creative, curious and detail-oriented individual to categorize and store information about our equipment, ensuring its easy retrieval for years to come. As a company with decades of presence in the global energy industry, we have a vast network of equipment installed around the world, and we're looking for someone to join our team and help us bridge the gap between the past and the future. One could consider this job being a technical archivist for the business.

As the Lead Technical Clerk, you will regularly work with service sales and delivery staff in an office environment or on planned site visits as required. Your work will also require interfacing to other parts of the organization, sometimes outside of the UK. This is an opportunity to join a renowned global company, and by properly storing information you will make a real impact and help progress electrification and decarbonization of our environment.

In this role you will focus on:

  • Acquiring or locating application records and other materials which have business significance for GE and its partners.

  • Finding ways to access data stored across a range of platforms and mediums.

  • As well as researching document and material records on GE systems, you will also be required to travel to site, working with customers (and suppliers) to obtain or ratify key information which is required for our projects.

  • Working with many different mediums and information types, some of which may be subject to time related deterioration. These mediums include but are not limited to: paper documents, photographs, maps, film, computer records, CAD, electrical schematics, user and O&M manuals, electrical specifications etc.

  • Ensuring new installations have been properly 'handed over', documented and recorded as required for ease of future use.

  • Implementing where required effective archive management, which may require archive software, cataloguing, indexing, microfiche, photocopying, displaying, or presenting to others in the organization.

  • Ensuring 'as delivered' project information, such as costs (from SAP), timelines, specific design information and lessons learnt are stored for easy retrieval, so they can be used on similar project opportunities in the future.

  • Keeping our valuable knowledge base organized and accessible.

  • We are looking for a committed and professional individual with:
  • Previous experience with classifying, storing, and managing technical records.

  • A thorough approach and attention to detail.

  • An analytical mind and an interest in the history of the organization's applications and systems.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • An ability and initiative to work effectively with others across a variety of industrial segments.

  • Some knowledge of interfacing with SAP.

  • Experience using the Microsoft Office suite, mainly Excel.

  • An ability to improvise, adapt and come up with solutions on how to access data stored in various form.

  • What will make you stand out:
  • Electrical engineering background or commercial experience working in such an engineering environment.

  • On-site experience working on (or in association with) the electrical infrastructure and the electrical department(s).

  • Experience working in the marine or naval industries.

  • You can expect from us:
  • Challenging and exciting projects.

  • A work environment where we understand that not everyone has the same expectations about their jobs, careers and work-life balance and we are happy to discuss flexibility requirements.

  • Attractive compensation.

  • Flexible benefits so you can build a package that fits your personal needs. Some core benefits are: Employer pension contribution (not subject to individual contribution), Income protection, Private Health Insurance and Life Assurance.

  • 26 days vacation + bank holidays.
