Full Job Description
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer. This person will be responsible to undertake technical project work to design new and improve existing Xstrahl Medical and Life Sciences products. The Mechanical Engineer will also provide support and guidance to production, customer support, and other departments as required.,
- Contribute to the design, development, and/or modification of mechanical hardware of medical and life sciences products based on scope and customer requirements.
- Work with the product teams and contribute to design discussions.
- Design and verify solutions based on Design for Manufacture (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Service (DFS) principles.
- Creation and development of concept designs in line with project definition.
- Keep abreast of new technologies, techniques, materials, and solutions related to mechanical engineering to ensure product safety, quality, and reliability.
- Work on DFMEAs.
- Undertake necessary calculations to ensure components/assemblies are fit for purpose.
- Apply appropriate material selection for components to ensure fit for purpose and safety.
- Selection of off the shelf components
- Creation and modification of parts in Solidworks including 3D models and assemblies.
- Use of the correct engineering and Xstrahl Standards for creation of engineering drawings for components and assemblies.
- Ensure compliance to Xstrahl's quality management system (QMS) with regards to all tasks and objectives
- Support the creation and maintenance of Design history files and Technical Files
- Creation of production documentation to ensure product can successfully be produced and supported
- Verification of designs
Minimum Bachelor's Degree Mechanical Engineering. - Minimum 5 years of experience in designing products.
- Experience in Solid Modelling (SoildWorks)
- Experience in Rapid Prototyping
- Experience in engineering materials such as plastics, composites, and metals.
- Experience in developing test and troubleshooting mechanical assemblies and sub-systems.
- Good communication skills and ability to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams.
- Self-motivated and capable of working with minimum supervision.
- Medical device development experience.
- Experience in developing products in compliance with medical safety and regulatory standards (60601, FDA, CE)
- General understanding of material science, fluid dynamic, and thermodynamics, Do you have a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering?
