Full Job Description

Your main responsibility will be to assist the EBME Manager in providing an innovative and responsive service across the geographical patch and cross section of clinical teams and service. You will line manage a team of Engineers and implement safe systems to comply with statutory and regulatory requirements supporting innovation for the NCA Community Services.

As a member of the wider team, you will provide strong leadership to the medical engineers but also blend the work of that team to develop robust governance practices.

The right candidate will have an engineering background and an understanding of specific challenges faced by community services. We are particularly looking for someone that is solution focused with a can-do attitude.

You will be working within a wider multi-professional Medical Device Service Team that delivers engineering, governance and training across a number of Care Organisations and community teams. All services are developed and managed with the patient at the centre and in close collaboration with the clinical teams. The Medical Device Service welcomes innovative approaches and aims to provide clear development pathways and opportunities for staff at every level to ensure delivery of high quality outcomes.

  • Please note that for this post you will be required to have obtained a full UK Driving Licence., You will be expected to:

  • Communicate with and provide specialist advice to clinical teams senior managers and colleagues with regard to the life cycle of a wide range of medical devices.

  • Undertake testing and repair of a wide range of medical equipment

  • Undertake a range of duties in a deputising role for the EBME Manager

  • Supervise work plans and work of junior staff.

  • Assist in identifying and managing risk associated with medical equipment and support investigation of medical device related incidents.

  • Act as a mentor and oversee training and CPD for engineers of all grades ensuring accurate and up to date records.

  • Assist in monitoring key performance standards associated with both internal and external work plans


  • You will plan your own workload and that of the Engineering Team. You will have responsibility for communications and relationships with internal and external customers to ensure optimal function and performance of medical equipment.You will measure key performance indicators and produce reports and action plans to address any deficits., In return, we can offer you a job role with purpose and flexibility.
