Full Job Description

To provide leadership and vision, optimising efficiency, financial performance and ensuring the practice achieves its long-term strategic objectives in a safe and effective working environment.

To research and manage practice development plans, identify opportunities, ensure the practice meets their contractual and commissioned requirements and complies with CQC regulations.

Primary Responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the Practice Manager. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.

Responsibilities

Management

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the practice, supported by Admin Manager and Admin Team

Finance

Manage the financial aspects of the practice, including budgets and forecasts.

Maintain an effective liaison with the accountant, overseeing practice accounts and ensuring accurate figures and reporting.

Brief partners on all financial and practice issues.

Manage the procurement of practice equipment, supplies and services within budget.

Contractual and Compliance

Act as the primary point of contact for NHSGM, HEE, ICB, PCN, and other external organisations and stakeholders.

Ensure the practice maintains compliance with its NHS contractual obligations.

Oversee targets and ensure deadlines are met.

Overall responsibility for CQC compliance.

Oversee and ensure health and safety compliance, including risk assessments and mandatory training.

Oversee premises and contracts, maintenance schedules for services and equipment.

Ensure the relevant insurance policies are appropriate and up to date.

Develop and maintain an efficient Business Development plan.

Develop and maintain a robust Business Continuity plan.

Oversee the maintenance of all practice policies and procedures supported by Admin Manager.

HR

Develop and implement effective HR systems and manage staffing levels within budgets.

Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of HR employment legislation which is supported by Croner. Oversee the staff training process to ensure all staff have the appropriate level of training to enable them to carry out their individual roles and responsibilities effectively with support of Admin Manager.

Additional

Lead change and continuous improvement initiatives, co-ordinating projects within the practice. Adopt a strategic approach to the management of all patient services matters.

Safeguarding Manager, awareness and development of practice policies and ensure practice adheres to these policies.

Support the complaints management process.

Attendance at external meetings as required.

Support the management of the Patient Participation Group.

Market the practice appropriately.

Practice Manager/NHS managerial experience is desirable but not essential.
