Full Job Description

As Senior Project Manager you will be key to the delivery of strategic projects and make a difference by developing and implementing schemes and projects to improve our environment and help people travel more sustainably. You will be leading projects as part of the ongoing Local Transport plan, which aims to improve sustainable transport options with Capital Investment.
What will you be doing?

  • You will motivate and support the activities of the Project Management Office, leading staff teams across various departments and external consultants to deliver projects to time and budget and arranging support and training for project managers around monthly reports.

  • On a daily basis you will provide expert advice to customers, councillors, senior managers and stakeholders, on any issues, risks and project progress.

  • In the role you will produce accurate and up to date reports and analyse complex data and also set targets, monitoring performance and reviewing potential changes to systems to ensure services and projects are delivered successfully

  • Working closely with suppliers and partners, you will negotiate and manage projects to meet business needs and service standards and consult with customers to provide training and information sessions to share expertise.

  • You will maintain high quality and consistent services to customers ensuring that agreed standards are achieved across a wide range of services and Service Level Agreements if present, are adhered to, taking responding to resolve queries, complaints. and requests.

  • It will your responsibility to review and resolve any issues relating to budgets, financial information and resources for your area of specialism so that agreed targets are met, reports are prepared and delivered, there is efficient use of Council resources, data is managed effectively and corrective action is taken when necessary and value for money is maximised.

    It is essential that you have experience of working in an operational or service delivery role, and have notable experience in project managment and of relevant software to the work of Strategic Projects.

  • You must be educated to degree level or equivalent and hold the APM Project Management qualification or equivalent and demonstrate Continuous Professional Development to keep abreast of changes in working practice and legislation.

  • We require you to be experienced in planning, managing and delivering projects within budget and to programme with the ability to analyse, prioritise and organise project programmes to meet deadlines, with the capability to use and apply the APM methodologies both accurately and effectively.

  • You will have experience of working closely with external partners to agree delivery of cross-boundary schemes with the ability to work with Elected Members, stakeholder groups, local communities and voluntary organisations to achieve mutually supportive objectives.

  • It is key that you the ability to problem solve in a multi-agency context, taking account of corporate policies and political impact in making decisions to provide sound expertise, advice and information to a range of customers throughout the Council.

  • We require you to be confident on delivering presentations to internal and external customers and organisations.
