We are looking to appoint an efficient and enthusiastic individual who will enjoy the challenge of working in a busy research office providing administration support within the Research & Development Department.

You will have good organisational, computing and keyboard skills, with ideally an administrative background. You will need to be a methodical worker with an eye for detail and used to working to deadlines.

You will be expected to perform tasks such as inputting information onto electronic and paper databases, organising meetings, filing as well as any other office duties in a confidential environment. In addition, the role requires liaising with researchers (internal and external) to obtain necessary documentation and managing correspondence.

In the role you will interact with members of the public, external NHS employees and organisations, and colleagues in a professional manner, communicating confidential information in written, verbal and electronic formats. You may also be asked to undertake patient related tasks such as sending study information and assisting with booking research appointments., Research study related duties

The main duties will be to perform tasks such as inputting information onto electronic and paper databases, organising meetings and taking minutes with internal and external staff, making travel and accommodation arrangements, sending out letters to study participants and booking research visits. Other duties are managing a central study email account and assisting with maintaining study site files.

General R&D duties

The post holder will also contribute towards the general administrative workload of the department in a confidential environment, including:

  • participating in service improvement by contributing ideas for improvement to existing work procedures.


  • Keep accurate and complete records consistent with legislation policies and procedures.


  • To provide cover during the absence of other administrative staff, working within the limits of own experience and expertise
