Full Job Description

Are you an early career researcher looking for your first challenge? Do you have a background in Cement Research? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK's leading research-intensive universities?
Magnesium is the 7th most abundant element in the Earth's crust and the 3rd most abundant element in solution in seawater. Therefore, MgO-based cements are a realistic low-carbon alternative to Portland cement, especially considering the development in technologies to extract MgO from silicates and/or brine, as well as processes to carbonate and/or chlorinate magnesium compounds or ions.
The post-holder will work to develop novel sustainable processes and binders as well as re-establish and advance currently unappreciated binders of the past, for the technical as well as economic improvement of MgO-based cements and associated supply chains.
This role will be based at the university of Leeds campus and there is scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements.
