Are you an experienced reinsurance professional looking for a new challenge? Guy carpenter is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Senior Reinsurance Technician. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting our reinsurance operations and ensuring the smooth execution of reinsurance transactions.

We offer flexible working arrangements, including part-time and job share options, to accommodate your needs. The role also allows for a hybrid work model, with two days in the office.

What can you expect:

  • As a Senior Reinsurance Technician, you will be responsible for various activities related to complex portfolios, such as processing technical transactions in areas like Excess Of Loss (XOL), Pro Rata (Quota Share or Treaty), or Facultative portfolio.

  • Your duties will include assessing reinsurance coverage, processing premiums and/or loss transactions, and managing associated cash flow. Additionally, you will provide guidance and training to less experienced colleagues and offer leadership and business support as needed., Manage service operations and functions within a client support process team, whilst providing direction on internal governance and compliance.

  • Ensuring all colleagues are operating rigorously within all published procedures and professional standards.

  • Direct input into all people related matters including recruiting, performance management, training, talent mapping, succession planning, status changes, etc.

  • Make decisions on complex, tactical and operational short-term issues within direct area of responsibility; provide recommendations to Department Manager regularly.

  • Participates in creating a travel and expense operating budget for the team; manage costs, working within budgetary/financial objectives for the team.

  • Maintain individual performance and development plans for each team member with effective mentoring and performance feedback.

  • Support, assist and provide guidance to less experienced colleagues as needed.

  • Coordinate senior leadership service activity reporting; present technical information for management and leadership.

  • Support Senior Management by contributing to the execution of Global CSS strategic objectives; lead and direct how the collective objectives of CSS in local Region and Globally are delivered.

  • Lead training sessions for all CSS colleagues as applicable.

  • Contribute to, and where required, lead change efforts, projects, quick wins, promote ideas to improve our provision of service, always question what next, never allows us to stand still.

  • Provide service process information for Request for Proposal (RFP) and sales opportunities.

  • Lead team meetings and activities to promote the sharing of opinions, ideas, knowledge and solutions; maintain strong working relationships and participate in initiatives and/or contribute where required to deliver outcomes.

    Knowledge of reinsurance concepts and principles, laws and regulatory requirements (e.g., FCA), and general business trends.

  • A track record of successful client account management, relationship management, engagement, and development.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for complex communications (presentations, negotiations, etc.) with clients, markets, and colleagues at all levels.

  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a high-performance team and attention to detail in completing assigned tasks.

  • A positive attitude, willingness to offer and execute ideas and solutions to enhance processes in a changing environment.


  • What makes you stand out:
  • Strong knowledge of reinsurance concepts, including treaty and facultative reinsurance, proportional and non-proportional structures, and claims handling.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex reinsurance contracts and resolve discrepancies.

  • In-depth technical knowledge of the reinsurance industry.

  • Experience in the London Market.

  • Consistent provision of guidance through mentoring and/or training colleagues.
