Full Job Description

37 hours per week, Term Time Only

The University of Kent Academies Trust is seeking to recruit a proactive Speech and Language Therapist to work at Brompton Academy. The post is suitable for an experienced Practitioner competency.

The role involves working within our current inclusion team to deliver a specialist integrated speech, language and communication service to secondary-aged SEND students. The salary for this role is equivalent to the upper end of NHS band 6 and the lower end of Band 7.

The role of the SLT is vital for a significant number of our students, particularly for those students with EHCPs and/or underlying SLCN in mainstream and in our specialist provision, the Eliot Centre which is based at Brompton Academy. Working with the other SLT, you will have the opportunity to develop special areas of interest in SLCN and will be supported to access suitable CPD to develop your role.

We are looking for a vibrant and energetic individual who wants to make a difference to the lives of our students and who will engage with working as part of a highly committed and effective team. You will need to be confident, resilient, approachable and a good communicator as you will be required to liaise with students, staff, parents/carers and outside agencies. The successful candidate will be expected to work with students from upper Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 5, and to support and provide training to empower our staff to integrate specialist interventions and techniques into the classroom.

The successful applicant will be coming to a multi-academy trust wide supportive learning environment, characterised by open management, and in the knowledge that they will enjoy the full support and care of the pragmatic (and down to earth) leadership team. We have a dynamic, innovative team of professional staff who want to make a difference to the lives, aspirations and opportunities of our young people. We would encourage applicants to visit the UKAT website to view the many employee benefits on offer https://www.universityofkentacademiestrust.org.uk/careers-with-ukat

The University of Kent Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

In addition, the Trust will carry out an online search, once, as part of our due diligence on shortlisted candidates. This is intended to help us identify any incidents or issues that have happened and are publicly available online. The selection panel will then explore such items with the candidate during interview. The Trust's HR Team or another member of staff trained in safer recruitment, will use Google.com to conduct each search and no adverse judgement will be formed for applicants with limited or no online footprint.
