Full Job Description

To work under instruction/guidance to enable access to learning by:

  • Attending to the welfare and personal care of pupils including those with special educational needs

  • Delivering pre-determined learning/care/support programmes

  • Implementing English / Maths programmes

  • Assisting with the planning cycle

  • To work effectively with individual pupils and/or groups under the direction and supervision of the PE Coordinator and class teachers

  • To improve competitive sport provision

  • To assist with improvement of staff development within the Physical Education and School Sport

  • Creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans.

  • Assisting with the planning of learning activities on a regular basis

  • Monitoring pupils' responses to learning activities and accurately recording achievement/progress as directed

  • Providing detailed and regular feedback to teachers on pupils' achievement, progress, problems etc.

  • Promoting good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encouraging pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour

  • Establishing constructive relationships with parents and where appropriate participating in feedback sessions with parents alongside the teacher

  • Administering routine tests, invigilating exams and undertaking routine marking of pupil's work

  • Assist teachers with learning activities ensuring health and safety and good behaviour of pupils

  • Assisting with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care Programmes

  • Establishing constructive relationships with pupils and interacting with them according to individual needs

  • Promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils

  • Encouraging pupils to interact with others and to engage in activities led by the teacher

  • Setting challenging and demanding expectations and promoting self-esteem and independence

  • Providing feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under the guidance of the teacher

  • Support the pupils, either individually or in groups, in accessing learning activities as directed by the teacher or PE Coordinator to enable pupil's progress towards their targets

    Someone to support all areas and deliver high-quality PE or sports provision, be a great team player and want to be involved in all aspects of school life. Mornings will be spent in the classroom supporting the teaching of lessons or working with small groups of children.     Bickleigh Down is a larger than average Church of England Aided Primary school maintained by Devon local authority. The school is situated close to the border between Plymouth and Devon. The school serves a mixed catchment area of Plymouth and South Hams: a mixture of urban and rural environments. Bickleigh has a PAN of sixty and is full or almost full in every year group. The local and wider community hold the school in high esteem and many families choose to move into the catchment area because of the positive feedback we receive.
