Full Job Description

Reporting to the Design Support Manager this role is responsible for:

  • Working with product owners and technical stakeholders (engineers, SMEs, etc.) to write, edit, proof-read, and maintain various technical publications including but not limited to installation, operation, and servicing guides, technical bulletins, release notes and product feature guides.

  • Contributing to developing, improving, and innovating processes and methods, deliberating the most informative and engaging ways to convey information, and how that information can support technical publications and other supporting material in various interactive environments (such as online, interactive PDF, etc).

  • Assisting in monitoring documentation development needs to address any literature gaps, and assist in reporting and supporting effective management, and execution of documentation and change histories.

  • Supporting other members of the Design Support and Technical Publications Teams with data management, engineering change actions and other tasks where necessary.

  • Write, edit, and maintain, technical publications necessary to ensure technical support of Group products.

  • Support the distribution of technical information via various Company channels.

  • Assist in monitoring documentation development needs and gaps.

  • Support the integration and creation of technical illustrations and other images using 3D CAD packages, Isometric drawing packages and 2D Isometric exploded drawing techniques.

  • Maintain documentation, database records, work log, project logs and related records relating to the control of documents generated for the Company's products and projects.

  • Good IT and knowledge skills relevant to Technical Publications.

  • Proven record of technical writing (using Adobe InDesign, FrameMaker, Arbortext or similar publication packages.

  • Strong literature, grammar, communication, technical writing and editing skills, with a clear and concise writing style able to translate technical terms and jargon into understandable text for target audiences.

  • Knowledge of standard industry methods, formats, templates and layouts, etc.

  • Experience in Interactive Electronic Technical Publication (IETP) production.

  • Experience in creating SGML/XML and DITA data modules, Common Source Data Base (CSDB) and Content Management System (Sitecore, Adobe Experience Manager, etc.) authoring environments.

  • Knowledge of authoring technical publications for mobile, tablet, and other interactive environments (such as augmented reality, and virtual reality).

  • Knowledge of translation software and processes.

  • Knowledge in utilising image manipulation software packages (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Corel etc.)

  • Knowledge in using HTML 5, CSS, JAVASCRIPT, etc.

  • Experience of creating, maintaining and controlling technical illustrations (using PTC Creo Illustrate, Arbortext IsoDraw or similar publication packages).

  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams, and other technical data.

  • Experience in using PLM or Data Management systems.

  • Experience in creating 3D CAD assembly models and rendered graphics.
